Meeting Mr.Wong, Writing a Bio and Blog, Drones, Programming and Facility.
Mr.Wong- Instructional Technology Specialist
Mr.Wong teaches and mentors highschool students at the student-run help desk at Burlington High School. He provides professional development and tech support to the faculty at the high school.
Mr.Wong has shown expansive knowledge in the technology fields that we have explored. He worked for the Boston Public School system for around 7 years before coming to Burlington. He introduced himself to us by presenting his summer with his family on the clips app which he hopes that soon teachers will integrate the technology into their lessons. We also overviewed the help desk website. I am very excited to see what he has in store for us because everything he teaches to us her does in such an enthusiastic way.
Blog Writing and Bios
We have been told that we will be posting loads of engaging content, and to be sure to keep our blogs organized. It will be fully customizable and will be a reflection of what we want to show. I started with weebly but found Wix to be an easier platform. I looked over former students bios to help with my own and the only struggle was hitting the word cap.
Drones
All of the Dones attributes and their abilities are Unbelievable.
Mr.Wong has introduced drones to us this week for the first time. We flew them with controllers, ipads, phones and have even looked through their view with our Google Cardboard Virtual Reality. It was interesting and scary to say the least but was definitely an enjoyable experience. We have used the Mavic Air and Mavic Pro, Parrot Cargo and Parrot Mambo, and Tello
Programing and facilities
We have started talking about programming concepts though a program called "Processing" which gives us instant programing gratification on a basic level. Mr.Wong also made us aware that if anything in the room can help us in another class then to let him know. Lucky enough my english project requires an audio editing and recording aspect to it which would be made very simple in our maker studio which is a soundproof room with high performing microphones.
